Default Fan on a Switch

I recently had some fan related issues on the trail and the only way I could it to work was a direct feed to the battery.

Since getting home the fan has started to work again but I'd like to put switched power to it from the Daystar A-Pillar panel. Now electrical isn't my thing so I need some advice.

I have a loom I purchased from Amazon for my LED's that I never used.

Part number is LP0010001 - link to Amazon is https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D1CQVIY..._HBqTvbGRYN21T.

What I want to know is can I use this loom to power the fan from the above mentioned rocker switch. Any help is much appreciated.

Not advised running it like that. Since there is no mechanical fan on the engine. Take it to a shop and have it looked at. The fan turns on on 2 types of parameters so to speak. One is engine temp and the other is when the A/C is turned on. And all this happens through the computer. You can however turn the fan on and off through a power programmer.

Anyone else got opinions on this setup? I know some of you guys have wired switches for the fans. I also found a different loom. While its still for lights it's single connection instead of a double like the other I posted.

This isn't a good plan. You need to get your fan working and running properly off the thermostat. When a switch is installed on the fan, it is used to shut the fan off for water crossings, but keeps the factory controls in tact for when it is on. Your method will either burn out the fan or the engine to have it hard wired only to a switch. This is one to take the time and money to fix it right.

Agree with fixing the fan first. If you still want an override, do it through the control circuit, not the power circuit. It is easier, cheaper, and safer.
