Default Finally,we're getting some snow...

And it is snowing as I write this! I'm super excited to take Jeepeh out.
But I do have a question (please,do not refer me to a "search" button...it is easier not to say anything, isn't it?)
After engaging 4wd...how long can she stay in it? 2 hours? 3 hours? Indefinitely?
Thank you.

Forever, as long as the front tires are on slippery ground.
As soon as you are on a surface that isn't slick, get back in 2wd, or else the fronts will fight each other anytime you aren't moving perfectly straight ahead.
That = breaking things

I know the search engine isn't perfect, but it is your friend. Keep exploring and reading as much as you can.
You'll learn tons and save lots of repeat questions.

Until you decide to take it out of 4wd. It's not a feature that drains your battery or anything like that Just don't use it on dry paved roads!

I'm not a stranger to forums. Especially vBulletins.
I know my way around But I'm shipping out in a couple of days (marine engineer) for a month. And to sit and filter through all posts for hours? I'd rather spend it with my girls
Thank you for your reply...you put my mind at ease

Understandable

I've explained it here to someone before. I've driven a lot of trucks and SUVs before Jeep...and so far it is the only vehicle that promises breakage of components. Should I decide to leave it in 4wd
Since we're on the subject of dry pavement...picture this: I'm driving on a highway, partially covered in snow. Must I shift in and out every time I see uncovered pavement coming up?

I went out earlier and it was a bit over the inch on the roads. So Jeepeh was sliding going into turns
I thought it was the coolest thing ever...
Wife? Not so much

Agreed. My only regret so far is not buying early enough to enjoy summer topless
It is going to be a long winter...

I don't use it in conditions like that, but I keep it on anytime the road is completely covered. I know a lot of the guys here use it less. But I figure as long as I'm not stressing the axles or differential on dry ground, then why not (other than reduced mpg)?
I'd rather have it then have a "whoops" and wish I would have had it on. It's too late after you've wrecked!

Good luck on your deployment.
