Holding the pedal to the floor for a few seconds during cranking will not start the Jeep as soon and will help prime the system if you are having start up knock, I know its not the ideal fix but its better that that no lube momentarily in freezing temps!
How does this prime the system? What are you talking about?

I buy from my local distributor..my dad and I both run royal purple...I'm pretty sure you can go to there website and find local dealers...my dealer comes right up to my workplace and drops it off for me!
The downside is it isn't cheap...you can get better pricing if you buy by the case but if you walk into an auto parts dealer its just under 10 bucks a quart

Holding the pedal to the floor...the Jeep won't start, by it cranking a few more times before it fires will give the oil pump a chance to fill your filter back up if you have a faulty drain back valve, and get some oil to the top end before it actually fires.

Great news! Like the OP, i have spent about $150 in oil and filters trying to find that magical combo to cure cold start knock. I know mine is not ABD valve related, because i have spun my filters off before starting and they are full. I think it is a combo of viscosity and filter flow performance.

Looking forward to going purple!

Maybe he has an electric oil pump.

I think what he means is that by holding down the pedal while cranking, it will not fire right away(computer prevents it), but will pump oil up top while the engine is under no load. When it starts after a few seconds, there is no knock because the engine got primed before it fired. The pump pumps oil as long as the engine is being cranked over (it's mechanical pump) so when it does fire, it is already primed up top, so no knock.

Ha ha no. From the post that says to hold the gas pedal down when cranking it over.
