First broken windshield
Just bought my first Jeep on Father's Day it's an 07 JKU. It has two chips in the windshield in the drivers viewing area. I questioned the seller about them and he told me in Virginia it passed inspection the last 4 years with the chips in the windshield. So I bring my Jeep home to Maryland and try to get it inspected and the inspector picks up on the two chips the second I dropped it off. "He say this windshield won't pass inspection and if you get the chips repaired and I can see any remintent of them I will have to fail it again". He suggested getting it replaced. I called my insurance agent to see if by chance they would cover it but no such luck because the damage was done before I insured it. I dont even have tagged yet, new windshield is being install in 2 days and then i guess Ill go crusing and get my own chips. So the lessons I've learned are always negotiate a new windshield if its chipped or cracked , just because it passed inspection in one state doesnt mean it will pass in another state and I just need to get used to chipped ,cracked and broken windshields. It's a Jeep thing!

I just returned from a road trip in my 07 JKU from Baltimore to Nova Scotia and back. We traveled 2765 miles in 7 days and traveled around the entire province of Nova Scotia. I am happy to say that having just replaced the windshield weeks before we left we made it home without a chip or crack to the windshield. Call it luck or chance , I call it Blessed!

I only recently got a chip in my 2009. Some areas are certainly worse than others for that but it's a way of life. Depending on your insurance and local vehicle registration requirements you should be able to decide what to do. But with the poor aerodynamics of the Jeep, it is prone to windshield chips.
