Default First Experience with Death Wobble????

I'll begin with a little background.
I purchased a used 2007 wrangler X with only 20,000 miles.
At 26,000 miles, I noticed the valve stems were torn (looked like they were dry rotting to me)!
Went to have the valve stems replaced (at Firestone) and was told to do a rotate and balance.
After the rotate and balance, i noticed what may be death wobble. The steering wheel shook back and forth violently, and I had to reduce my speed. I have since noticed that this happens around 45 or 50 mph.
The wheels are Cragar 8 soft and the tires are Yokahama. 16".
Anyone have any ideas??? What to do next??
I'll grab a cold one and hope someone has an idea.
Thanks!!!

If the wobble happened after the rotate and balance, take it back and have them do it again.

Also check your tire pressure, some tire shops put in way to much.

That's BS man.......if you didn't have any problems before you went to the shop, then they didn't get one of, or maybe even a couple tires balanced properly. You should have taken it right back as soon as it happened, but I'd take it back and tell them they screwed up...!!!

Just had my 37in toyo's rotated and re-balanced today. The shop that originally mounted my tires did the static bubble balance(old school) Had road vibes at 50-60mph. The shop I went to today dynamic balanced mine today on a machine , no road vibes or shimmy. I also got an alignment on their $40,000 laser alignment machine. My numbers were pretty close to where they needed to be, he added abit more castor to my driverside to help with the pull to the right and fine tuned my toe. First tech I've talked to in a long time that knew his shit. Drives like a dream now. Did they bubble balance your tires or put them on a machine?

WHAT? I haven't seen that in over 20 years. What kind of shop balances like that today?

Oh, and for hellbound, Mr Montgomery was the innovator of the bubble balance, he developed a longer lasting bubble who's formula was eventualy sold and packaged as a child novelty.
