Default Fluke issue with stuck seatbelt, would not retract

So the other day, my drivers seatbelt suddenly stopped retracing all the way, it would leave about 2ft of slack, hang out the door, annoy the hell out of me, everything.

Probably (hopefully) won't ever happen again, but the plug from the left side rear door had actually somehow managed to get into the mechanism, and wouldn't come back out. The belt would retract part of the way and then jam with no room left to spool up.

It's hard to see in the pics, but I had to take some pics of it because after the first 15min of trying to get it out of there I was starting to get frigging frustrated and needed to stop for a bit. My hand doesn't fit in there and I'm certainly not flexible enough, lol. Ended up taking me about half an hour to work it out of there, was starting to think I'd just rather cut the thing off and grab it with some chanell locks or something.

Anyway, I thought I'd share, in case someone else runs into it. And because nobody else will understand how freaking annoying that crap was, lol.

That should be covered under warranty. Why mess with it.

No offense, but did any of you read the portion where removing the plug from the mechanism resolved the issue? No warranty work needed, and certainly no reason to take to the dealership. If I hadn't found it, of course, I would have taken it in first chance I got. That was the plan actually, but avoiding that was nice. Especially since it was something stupid simple like that.

Maybe I should have been clearer... : : : I fixed it. Wanted to share in case someone else had the same issue, save themselves a trip to the dealership.

What's the plug for? Looked like it didn't just fall into the path of the seatbelt webbing at the retractor.

EDIT*

I went out to check my FS belt. The only purple and black wired loom is for the rear door wiring/disconnect. My JK has alot more wires (do you have manual windows?) Looked as though someone left the connector off and the seatbelt retractor sucked in the connector a little bit.

Good thing you didn't take it to the dealer if that was the case, they would have charged you their rate for a good hour...

Yep, exactly. I have manual everything, so not a lot of wires, and not a lot of reason to keep plugging the doors back in every time they come and off. They haven't been plugged in for more than a year, so it was a fluke that this finially happened.

I've zip tied the ones in front so they aren't dangling, the rears are getting the same treatment now to prevent this from happening again, lol.
