Default fog light problems

hey guys,

not good with electrical stuff, will a faulty fog light bracket cause the fog lights to not operate? My bulbs stopped working after I installed my front xhd about 8 months ago and finally replaced the fog bulbs today but those didn't work either! pissed off right now TIA EDIT: Sorry mods, these should be in the electrical section.

Mike

I don't know how the factory ones are set up as I have yet to really tear it apart but It is possible that the ground is a part of the mount which if loose could cause it to sometimes work and sometimes not, depending on how good of contact it has. But again like I said, I dont know how they are wired up so this is more of a shot in the dark.

Time to pull out the multimeter and see if you get power down there. If not then maybe a bad relay telling power to be sent to the lights.

The fogs don't work at all, and not good with electrical stuff so as far as a relay, does that mean I may have blown a fuse?? I noticed the fog lights kind of let's say "balloon" when I turned them on to test but they weren't secured in the brackets at that time..no clue and I don't have a multimeter! Looks like ill have to scoop one up.

The thing below the bulb looked like it expanded, sorry can't figure out the best way to describe it.

The light does come on in the dash. I haven't messed with fuses before, but ill take a look at that. Ill take a pic in the morning of what I am talking about on the bulb, I also made sure I didn't touch the bulb and had vinyl gloves on. Thanks for the help.

Did you have to do any splicing for the fogs to fit into your aftermarket bumper? If you did I would check your spliced area's for moisture or no contact. The new bulbs you replaced are they a higher Watt fog light bulb over stock? This may have popped a fuse?

If you have low beams you should have power, and they should be protected thru a headlight breaker.

Yeah, still lost with this. My low and high beams work. Its gotta be a fuse?? Never use the fogs anyway, but be nice if they worked!
