Default Freedom Top Right Panel deteriorating!

My freedom top right panel seems to be deteriorating. I have posted a picture. Its right under the latch.

Do you guys think this would be covered under warranty? If so I'm headed to the dealer tomorrow!

Yikes! That almost looks like overtightening, except that the crack doesn't extend all the way to the screw, which I'd expect to see. I sure hope that mine doesn't do the same thing some day! I'd be interested to hear what your dealership's service department tells you... good luck, and keep us posted.

cmpmacchia- HI! These are both problems that have shown up before- the latch issue is easily addressed, it is a friction issue between the latch surface and the Sheet Moulded Compound (SMC) the roof is fabricated from. A small amount of silicon grease applied in the friction area would minimize this type of surface wear. The bolt area crack is very common, the top screws should be snugged only, if you see the top material depressing around the bolt area it will crack. I believe Woods has a fix in the works at this time. You might PM him for an up-to-date answer. I snug mine only and have no leak or top shifting issues.....If you put a plate underneath the bolt head and still tighten the bolts too tight it will just move the cracks out to the ends of the plate, so snug only!

Thanks TINMAN080 but believe it or not I've had the top off twice since I purchased it. Which means i actuated the latch twice. Thats hardly enough to wear through the material.
The Torx screws holding down the hardtop are barely snug. I didn't wrench them on at all. F****ing Jeep...why do they fabricate things so cheaply!

Again thanks for your input TINMAN080!

The second photo is of the rear torx screws holding the rear freedom top down (close up). You'll see them when you open your tailgate.

Default cracked hardtop at rear bolts

I have the same two cracks - one on each side at the rear of the hard top. the best part is the Dealership is the ONLY one to ever take off the hard top and their "Fix" was to paint the top of the crack. When confronted they insisted that since its not load bearing, they did not have to repair or replace it.

That's just one more reason i have an attorney working with chrysler to replace the jeep.

I wonder if the cracking around the bolts is a result of body flex? Do those with cracking off road a lot and cross up the axles? Are these unlimiteds or swb rigs? Looks to me like a case of the body flexing when the suspension is flexed out and causing cracking.
