Default Front D44 leaking?!

Ok, so I just spent the last week driving 1500 miles across SoCal and Arizona and recently noticed what looks like some fluid coming out of my front diff.

I don't have a picture, but there is a tube that comes out the back of the front D44 and continues up the left shock mount and has a cap on the end of it. It looks as if it acts as an overflow tube or something. Either way, there is fluid all over that tube, on the exposed part of the frame in the left front wheel well and some on a skid plate underneath.

Can someone please help me and let me know what this is about. Maybe it is just a bleed off valve of sorts but it makes me nervous.

Thanks.

x2

It's probably just overfilled a little. No big deal. Make sure the drain plug and seals are dry and you're good to go.

just wondering is the fluid look like clean oil ? have you been in deep water at all? I got water in my axle and well that just makes the gear oil white and then it over flowed out the breather tube you are talking about.....also like others said if your diff is over filled it will come out the breather tube, if its over filled it can also cause the pinion or axle seal to leak from the pressure....been there done that thanks to bone head shop I went to

have you changed the fluid? are you all stock?

I'm all stock and have not been in much water, maybe 10 inches for 20 feet. It looks like pretty clean oil...

So you don't think it could just be overfill coming out of the breather valve, you say the dealer is the best option now?

how many miles do u have on the jeep? It really shouldnt be overfilled and if it is the presure from it being overfilled could cause the axle or pinion seal to fail/leak.
