Default Front Differential Breather tube... Disconnected.

Once in a while, especially after an offroad trip, I look under my jeep to make sure everything is okay. Today I noticed a hose hanging next to the driver side front wheel and after closer inspection, deducted that this was the breather tube for the front differential. I live 2mn from a Jeep dealership ( La Brea Jeep in Los Angeles, great service dept. by the way), so I drive my car there, and one of the mechanic just put it back in. I was just wondering, doesn't it have to be sealed or something? or is it just as easy as plug it back, like the mechanic did?

It's that easy. But after it happened to mine, I change the fluid. It happened again then I put a clamp on both of mine.

right, actually mine was somewhat different, it wasn't just the hose, it was the hose and the metal insert that goes into the differential.

Why would you take your car to the dealer if it was the Jeep w/ the diff breather tube disconnected?

Every time you refer to your Jeep as a car, a kitten dies...

I would want to complain actually, have it checked, and ask WTF!
