Front seat belt replacement
Do I need any special care during a seat belt change? I know ,disconnect batery due a seat belt tensioner but I donīt know if I need to visit dealer with a scan tool or just unplug old belt and plug in new one.
Something may have changed but I'm pretty sure the belt tensioner is just a spring...nothing electrical needing battery disconnection for an actuator there.
Why do you want to change out your belts?

The belts in the JK have the automatic retract. Which means in an front or side impact the belt has a charge that fires and sits you back in the seat. Its like a shot gun shell, in class we learned about them. It works like a water wheel. Once it fires the gas roll the belt back in. Thats why they say replace the seatbelt after a front end collison. Not just a spring like the TJ, notice the yellow connector going to front belts.
Yes,like 98jeepboy said, front seat belts in the JK have some pretensioner inside.
I have to change the front passenger seat belt because is a little bit trap-door in the place of buckle.

The change is done. I just disconnect battery ground and waited two minutes. Then I disconected yellow conector from the belt, replaced the belt ,reconected yellow conector and then the batery cable.
I realize this is an old thread, but I'm hoping reviving it can answer my question. I need to replace the driver buckle only, is there anything I need to do as far as disconnecting the battery or anything? Or is it pretty simple, remove the old one install the new one? I can't seem to find any answers anywhere else.
