Front Seat does not flip forward
Hi Folks:
Just bought a 09 JK 2 dr & Was wondering if anyone has a solution in flipping the passenger seat forward ,, as I had a TJ before and the seat actually,
flipped up out of the way for,,, adequate access to the back seat, not great but
ok.. so not in my wildest dreams thought that the design would get worse=
only slides forward and tilts the same as the drivers side,,,=(safety issue here big time)..
When I did discover the backwards design move the next day,, I contacted the salesman
and basically told me, tough,,, no return policy...sooo...
then of course it hit me,,,, I guess this sure pushes consumers to buy a 4 door,,, as now that model is available,,, but before,, with only a 2 door they designed them
for easier access and not even mentioning the safety end of trying to exit the back seat in an emergency,,, = (good luck)<<<
anyway is thera a solution to this,, any info would be great...
thanks in advance

Welcome Aboard, Shipmate!
Unfortunately, there isn't one that I know of. I know a few Members are currently working on a FIX for this, but nothing as of yet.
Doesn't make sense, does it? There's no way a reasonable sized person can get in the back, without fighting for it, and getting a few lumps and bruises for their efforts.
Cheers!

What bothers me is when the passenger seat flips forward/slides forward, if my Jeep is on even the slightest incline the seat will slide back on it's own. Twice now my daughter has had her foot caught between the seat and door frame as it slid back. It would be nice is there was a detent that held it forward.
xactly, for this even to be legal ??, like 8" at the bottom, and maybe 15" at the top
( a Guess at this time especially without side boards,,(which are an option,)
I challenge for info purposes only,,,ask the salesman ,,and choose a big guy\woman\haha and ask them to to slip in and out of the rear seat,,,,
with no running boards,,, = no sale,,,,( if you plan on using the back seat on occasion)..... just a warning as I did not do my research,,,,
and a warning,, to those who may not know of this unsafe\ unrealistic\ change|......
thanks for taking the time, to read my peeve.............

Really? Buyer beware?
Design a mod and market it.
You can't reasonably believe they did this to push sales of 4 doors. You know, I'm sure just as many people complained when it flipped over, so Jeep decided to modify it to it's current design, now everyone hates this design.
I cannot support this as a "safety concern" ....if you believe that then your entire Jeep is a safety concern...
And if you get into an accident, how is this a problem...I can take the top off in a heartbeat, problem solved

Have you tried the soft top with the windows removed and the rear seat installed backwards? Or just consider the upside, you won't need children locks on the doors.

What is it with seats lately? Rear seats that don't recline, front seats that don't fold forward, none of the seats are easily removable .... Is everyone tired of complaining about the engine and we have decided to move on to the seats
but meantime,,,
someones friends\ kids get hurt or killed because they are trapped in the back.. all driven by corperate greed,, they saved a few bucks, and pushed
consumers to more expensive models,,,
and I did asked the salesman as we stood at the drivers seat
, he remarks that the passenger side was more suitable for\ entry to the back seat??? what ever,,,, no diff... (suitable I assumed meant better\easier\
oh well....
