Default Front Seat Removal

How do you remove this bolt. This is the right rear bolt of the front passenger seat. A socket doesn't come close to fitting into that space.

I'd try a self ratcheting box wrench with adjustable head. If you can't clear that lip, a sink wrench may do it. You can put those on any angle practically.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'll have to borrow those tools. Word is that it takes a lot to break these bastards loose. Hopefully I can get enough torque.

On my 2013 Sahara once you move the front passenger seat all the way forward there is a way to lift the rear part of the seat up. That is done so a passenger can climb in and out of the rear seat. Head restraint had to be removed first as it was in the way hitting the dashboard panel. I had to remove the seat to remove carpet to drain water after first rain. A separate problem that ultimately was fixed. At first I thought the same thing, - there is no way to fit a socket in that space. Hope you can do the same on yours.

I just used a 1/2" drive breakover with a socket. It can be very high torque and this is a "torque substaining" fastener. The bolt will be tight the entire way out of the caged nut. Once you break it loose with the breakover, you can use a ratchet.

What is this way you speak of?

I can't use a ratchet. It doesn't come close to fitting in that space, even with the bolt tightened down. That's the whole problem.

just did this in mine... had to pop it forward (was a pain in the ass, but it will) and used an impact wrench.

SOLVED

I got it figured out. Yes, the seat should pivot forward. I grabbed the seat frame in the back and gave it a couple of good yanks upward. It didn't seem to want to budge at first, but I got it. Hopefully this will help someone in the future.

And if I remember correctly, there is thread lock on the bolts, to make it even more difficult

Breaker bar (pipe) was a must for me, as was repositioning myself and the tool frequently. I chose to use a non-ratcheting tool at first, moving it only a little at a time before repositioning it. When it was a little loose, switched to ratchet. Don't forget to slide seats as needed in order to maximize your working space. Sounds obvious but easy to forget.

Giant PITA, those bolts are tight. Cursing was involved.
