Default Fuel Economy reset

I know this is a stupid question but it's been bugging the heck out of me so here goes..
I'm used to pushing down on the button on the gauge cluster to reset the elapsed time and etc, the problem is with my '09 it will blank the fuel economy for a second and it will come back with the same number. I would think it would be like my 02 Grand which resets to zero. Anyone have any ideas or is this the way the newer units work. Thanks all

it will come back with the same number, but right as you start driving the number will be much more sensitive (reset).

If you want to really reset it, get to your cruise speed and reset it repeatedly untill it pops up steady at one number. Thats your true mpg
It is not taking your old average into account it is just starting with that number.

Your true mpg includes the time that your jeep is running and not moving.

Not to say that the computer is accurate in anyway. Seems that jeep cheated the mpg high so it looked better.

This is what I have found to be the case on mine.
