Default Fuel gauge

Hi all,

Quick question, At what point on the fuel guage does your low fuel warning light come on? Mine was originally coming on at just under 1/4 tank. thing about that was that it would actually run out of fuel before reaching 1/8. I took this to the dealer and they say its fixed.. but my light comes on just under 1/8 of a tank now. When i brought this up they said thats where it should come on. Are they pulling my leg? I thought the light should come on when the guage reaches the red zone.

Thanks!

I also have a 2DR Sahara, and my light comes on just under 1/4 tank like yours does. I thought it was strange the first time it happened, then I didn't give it another thought.

Thanks for the heads up about running out of gas at 1/8 tank - I probably would've pushed it one of these days and found out the hard way, as I'm guessing you did. That's a little concerning.

I am not sure on the JK, I will have to check that out. My fiance likes to drive until the light comes on, so I'm sure it wont be long! (love you dear)

But I have noticed in several other Chrysler vehicles with trip computers (including my 03 dodge ram) that it comes on when the "distance to empty, DTE" lists 25 or less miles. It doesnt seem to matter where the fuel gauge is.

One thing I did notice was this... when it hits 30 miles on the Distance To Empty guage it starts to just say "LO FUEL"

My fuel light also comes on just under 1/4 tank. Very annoying. If I fill up shortly thereafter (just so I don't have to listen to the bell), it usually takes 15.5 gallons or so on my 2-door. So I should have about 50 miles left. If there is a fix for this at the dealership, I'll probably have them do it when I get around to having them fix the stall bug recall.

Mine came on - didn't notice where the gauge was but I did notice that DTE was exactly 50...

Thanks all

I will have to look at the DTE numbers,. I usually drivre with the compas/temp on so i never see the low fuel message or how many miles left. That would explain a lot though. I will have to check.

Mine comes on just above the "E" about a 1/16th of a tank.

Mine comes on with about 4 gallons left in the tank, reading just about 1/8 of a tank, when the needle is on E I still have 2 gallons left in the tank.

The light comes on somewhere around 1/8 ~ 1/16. DTE is usually around 35 miles when it goes on.
