Try a Cleaner

This is just my opion and what I would do if I suspected internal 'gunk' in my injectors. I know there will be folks with (strong) opinions otherwise, that is ok.

If it were mine I would modify the decarbon process I use on my 2 stroke outboards. That is to put 2 cans Seafoam, 3 oz 2 stroke oil into a gallon container and fill with good fuel. Then run the outboard 'hard for a few minutes, shut it off and let is sit for 10 minutes, repeat till mix is gone. Reattach the normal fuel line and run the engine. Does a wonderful job. Many do this annually.

On my Jeep I would run the fuel low, add 3-4 cans of Seafoam and drive the Jeep until about out of fuel. Add a can of Techron and fill the tank. Enjoy!

I do not like to remove parts with o-rings that are not leaking if I can avoid it. This process may work for you will less risk than injector disassembly, cleaning, and assembly.

This is good info. I just got 2 cans of sea foam on my way home today and was thinking of how many gallons I wanted to mix it with. Thank you for the info.

I'm at 194k on my stock injectors and they seem just fine. I run higher quality fuelever now and again.

I parked in in garage last night and closed the garage, wife walked out to get the mail and there was strong fuel smell. Popped the hood but didn’t see anything obvious. Got me a little scared wondering if possibly one of my fuel injectors could be leaking. Only have 90K, was wondering if this smell came from under the hood or from the fuel tank. Have noticed lately that I might has a slight loss of power, nothing drastic but maybe I’m being over cautious. Also on a different subject was wondering if and when you changed out your timing chain? Thinking if I change the fuel ejectors I might as well change the timing chain if required. Your thoughts?

Never changed the timing chain on mine and I'm almost to 170k now.

As far as the smell I guess you would have to figure out if it's everyday, maybe put an old white sheet down to see if anything drips ect....

Post up when you get some more details on it but I've never read about fuel leaking out but I'm no expert either.
