Question Fuel pump not working

Hi there I am new to Jeeps and new to this forum and are looking for some guidance and am happy toi give any in the areas I know
I picked up my 2008 4 door Jeep unlimited last week and have just got around to messing with it.
It was a water damaged jeep but I have had over 15 cars and trucks that have been classed as the same and had a great deal of success with all of them.
this Jeep is baffling me a little,, it will start right up if I put fuel direct to the inlet manifold until the fuel has burnt up, there seems so to be no fuel pressure at the rail and I do not hear any noise coming from the tank when the key is turned on.
I did some research and saw the jumper trick shown on another post so I did that,,(https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-e...-relay-274779/) nothing, I also looked at connector C5 for the blue orange wire but dont have one visible.
I did split the TIPM and cleansed all contacts and looked for any water ingress and saw none, they are pretty well sealed, I then crawled under the Jeep and just want to be certain I located the fuel pump?
What I saw was a black plastic canister about the size of a shoe box with a white nylon cylinder on one end of it and 2 fuel pipes coming from it, there was one electrical connector with 2 wires on it, I took a good 12V battery and applied power to the connector, nothing happened, the canister looking thing was the drivers side of the Jeep about 2 or so feet un front of the rear axle, I also traced the wires to a split in the loom, one side goes to the fuel tank assume that's whats under that long cover down the underside of the passenger underside of the Jeep
so I am open to any ideas now? I know the Jeep has some other electrical issues but know it will run if I can get fuel to the fuel rail and plan to sort out every issue until the Jeep is right again.
Any pointers would be gratefully accepted thank you

What you are probably looking at is the evap canister. The fuel pump should be submerged in the tank.

Thanks Karls that makes perfect sense I appreciate you clearing that up

Is there a way to get to the pump wires without dropping the tank do you know?
