Default Gas Tank Size?

I have a 2013 Rubicon and per window sticker it has a 22.5 gallon fuel tank. I can run the fuel gauge all the way past "E" with the fuel light on and when I refill it the most I can put in it is 18 gallons? I think once I squeezed 18.2 gallons in it. Is there a 4.5 gallon reserve?

Carry a 1 gallon can with you and drive it until it runs out to find out. The pump has a reservoir to prevent it from burning out if you run out of gas so you'll be fine. Don't make a habit out of it, but once will be fine. If you watch the DTE it will read down to about 20 miles and then change to LOW FUEL. I've managed to put almost 22 gallons into mine before.

On my '13 DTE stops at 30 and simply displays "Low Fuel."

From what I've read, there's a 5 gallon reserve.

Right. I knew it was somewhere around the 20-30 mark. I've only done it once. I typically fill up at about 1/4 tank.

It is another example of being coddled. You aren't capable of knowing what's good for you so industries and governments make it their business to do what they can to take care of you. Both utilize fear tactics. They try to scare you with the flashing red light to minimize if not eliminate you running out of gas. The estimated miles to refuel are also equally adjusted. Yes the tank is actually what it claims on you vehicle identification label, they fear the government too! On average you have 4-5 gallons left when the light goes. Traditionally the light came on about 25 miles before you would run out but that proved to be insufficient.
