You might have a leak. Could be the gascap, punctured tube or else.

What year? I have a 2012. This happened to me about a year ago. The solution was to tweak the rubber hose where it goes into the evap canister. I guess the seal was compromised. By just wiggling that hose the light went out and hasn't come back since. I tried doing stuff with the gas cap but it had no effect. The evap hose was the culprit.

My light came on with the same code, I did the same thing rob did and it hasn't come back on.

If it's not the evap hose, then try swapping the gas cap with a new one. They're supposed to hold a certain pressure, and if the cap fails, the computer thinks the cap is off.

About a year ago I had a similar problem and cured it by removing the gas cap, wiping the filler neck sealing surface with alcohol and applying a thin film of grease to the sealing surface. Wiped down the seal on the gas cap and reinstalled the cap; reset the CEL and so far the CEL has not returned.

Default gascap

Hey there.. been dealing with a similiar issue with my 2007 . When hubby filled it up he left the gascap off.. two days later the gascap warning came on, two days later the check engine light came on. I discconected the battery to reset the codes.. same issue.. gascap light followed by the check engine light. I replaced the gascap, disconnected the battery.. two days later no gascap warning.. but just the check engine light came on..evap ? any comments or suggestions?

It's likely the tube going into your Evap canister. Try tweaking or tightening that connection. That happened on my 2012.

I've been having a similar problem, just started last week and is happening about every other day. I disconnect the battery and it is OK for a couple of days then its back. I checked the codes which were; P0441 and P0455. I checked the gas cap and it was very snug, checked for loose hoses both under the hood and back by the evap .can, everything seems OK. I put a Superchip Flashpaq about 3-4 weeks ago and it ran fine until now. Would the Superchip cause this problem? I was trying to keep from taking into the dealer if at all possible.
