Thinking of changing my gear oil myself any ideas

You mean your front and rear diffs? They are so simple to do since they haves drain plug. You should be able to find plenty of write ups how to do it. I went with valvoline synthetic and used the higher viscosity in the rear because I tow with the JKU.

go with lucas 80w90 great stuff . easy to do about a quart in the front 30 and lil over two in the 44 . takes all of 30'minutes

Loosen the fill plug before opening the drain plug.....

and you'll want good ventilation, diff fluid stinks! especially if it has the limited slip additive.

if the diffs have never been changed, you may want to go the whole route and open the covers after the drain. Spray it all down with brake cleaner, wipe it out and let it completely dry. Then RTF the covers and reinstall, tighten to the appropriate torque.

Easy as changing the oil. Replaced with Amsoil Severe Gear. Make life easier on yourself, and get some kind of pump to put the fluid in.
