Default Getting a New Torque Converter..

So my dealer has finally agreed to replace the torque converter due to TC lockup and shudder. My questions are..

1. I have had this problem since about 2500K. I now have 8500K. Do you think its too late for the transmission even if they replace the TC? The tranny fluid looks a little dark but not much. If I spread it on my fingers it is clear but there is a slight tinge of grey left on my finger. Metal Im assuming?

2. When they replace the TC, will they drain and replace all the tranny fluid or should I ask them to do this?

3. For anyone who has had the TC shudder and had the TC replaced, did it fixed the problem? I remember seeing a lot of people saying the problem came back again after the new TC past its break in period but I am wondering if anyone had it replaced and had no further issues?

You'd better ask them too. The purpose of doing a transmission flush as compared to dropping the pan is that with a flush, you get all the fluid in the torque converter too. When they replace the converter, they'll pull out the tranny, remove the old converter and slap a new one on. They will not have to drop the pan to do any of this, so you want to make sure to ask them to drop the pan and put a new filter on

I had my TC replaced, got about 1000 miles on the clock since the repair. Seems a lot better, but I guess time will tell!!

No more shudder or crazy shifting or locking up at 1500 rpms?

Did you ask them if there was any damage done to your transmission from the TC shudder when they put the new one in?

How many miles did you have on the Jeep when they put the new one in?

They said that the tranny looked fine, no other damage. I had about 15000 miles on the clock when it was changed.

You have to really be firm. I went to the dealer three times. Each time they updated the software even though I specifically told them that the software updates were not working. The last time the agreed to replace the torque converter and I go to pick it up and lo and behold they just updated the software AGAIN! It was at that point that I started yelling and making a scene in the dealership that the service manager finally came over and said he would order the converter right there. Now Im going in tomorrow to get it replaced. I am hoping with 8,000K on the clock the tranny is still ok cause my transmission shudders and shifts erratic as all hell. Also on my last fill up I have noticed my MPG has dropped from 17.6 to 15.6.
