1. It will work fine with out the harness as many have done it with a simple toggle switch
2. the bottom plug is a sensor to tell if the locker is engaged. Wire power into it, the other wire to one side of an indicator light, then ground the other side of the indicator light. When the light is on, the locker is engaged!
3. Again, I have not done this, but have done HOURS of reading on the topic because I plan to as soon as I find the right axles for the right price
