Default Grinding gear

My jeep came with a really nasty surprise-a grinding gear. Whenever I shift into 4th gear going downhill my 4th grinds. It's only 4th gear and I think it only happens downhill. What could this be? And I only have 18-19k miles on my jeep (bought it with 17k) so would the warranty cover the fix?

Thanks guys, that's what a few friends thought too. Hoping the warranty covers it!

Finally got it fixed. Wasn't a synchro, it was the insulation between the cab and the shifter. The modified the insulation and replaced the shifter spring with a stronger one which is very nice. All covered under warranty

they try that if it still persists its syncros generaly the spring and boot is not the issue , but Chrysler has them do it anyway , seeing the orginal spring was weak to start with and the boot was to stiff . that did not work for mine it was syncros
