Default Hard to soft top

Abe a factory hardtop on my 2012. Getting a sweet deal on a 2009 soft top with all hardware and door surrounds just in time for summer.

Will it fit my 2012? I know the windows are different but with the door surrounds from the top it should fit right? Getting it tonight and wanted to make sure. Also is there any small hardware I need to make sure is there? Has the channels, tailgate bar, door surrounds Windows and top. Anything else?

You will also need the brackets that fit on the roll bar for the soft top bows.

What brand of soft top you are getting? I know 2007-2009 share the same size according to Bestop soft tops but looks identical to 11-15. Let us know how you fit it.

So got the top today. He was missing the tailgate bar, the bolts for the surrounds and the brackets that attach to the roll bar but for $45 I got it anyway. Figure I can piece together the other couple pieces off craigslist or something. I test fit it and everything lines up so we should be good!

Very cool. I have a hard top but miss the soft top on my old Wrangler. Problem is I live in the city and it was broken into a number of times. Twice someone slashed a side window - even though they could have unzipped it! - only to find nothing in the car. After the second time I would leave it parked unlocked, and about once a year find that someone had gone through it (glove box open, service records on the floor etc) but at least nothing was damaged! (nothing of value is ever left in there).
The soft top just feels more care free. Once I get a place w/ my own garage again, I'll be getting one.

Just an update since a lot of people wonder about fitment. This is a factory 09 soft top with 09 door surrounds on my 2012. Everything fits great and for $40 doesn't look too bad at all. Really enjoying the weather we're getting without the hassle of pulling the hardtop off all the time. Absolutely love it

Quick question about soft tops.. I bought a soft top of of Craigslist for my 09 JKU, but I have no idea what year it is. Well, I'm pretty sure that it's not an 07-08, because it has the spring assist and the front doesn't have channels over the doors.

With that said, how do I know what year it is? If I want to get a replacement top / windows - how would I know what to get?
