Default Hard top

I am very interested in buying a mopar hard top. I have an 09' x with a soft top. Does any one have any advice for installing a hardtop or should i pay the dealer to install it? After the first winter i decided i needed the new roof? Any advice...

Do they also come OEM tinted from quadratec or am i better off buying from the jeep dealer.

They're on restriction from the factory. So, it will be a long wait buying from a dealership. I would imagine Quadratec would be the same way. Though I bet Quadratec would take your money, then tell you so be wary dealing with them.

I would look for one from a member here. I've had mine up for sale (AZ), but everyone seems to want to pay a price that I would just rather hold onto it. Its really nice to have in the summer and for the security of parking on the street in questionable areas, but I don't have the room to take it off any longer and that is more inconvenient than anything.

There's nothing to the install. Just six screws in the rear and your soft top door surround "screws" (with the black plastic knobs) will work double duty for the freedom panels. If you want functional defrost and rear wiper you can buy the complete wiring kit from quadratec for about $150.

I second the motion to try to find one local or semi-local, either on the forums or craigslist. The money you will save will easily cover a modest roadtrip/mini vacation.

I found an 09 hardtop within an hour away from me for a 2 door. It was a local guy who was a member of a local off road club. I picked it up for a DEAL. It needs a coat of fresh paint after i finish the two rear section corners by the door and rear glass. glass going in monday morning, i'm finishing my fiberglass work tomorrow morning, just came inside now and probably gonna paint it tomorrow. I'm gonna make a thread for my hardtop "rebuild". Even after adding $350 for rear glass i can still double my price on it

As for your predicament!
Look in craigslist and ebay and that.. dealer is about $2k or more easy and long wait.

the dealer install would be big money, when it's you that takes it off and on anyway. The factory hardware is $8.00 for each female piece (six of them) and $5.00 a piece for the bolt.
It is possible to remove the 2 door hardtop by yourself, but it's way easier if you've got a buddy to give you a hand for a second. When i took mine off by myself i still had the softopt collapsed in the back of the Jeep, and the rear seat folded forward. Without the softopt on, i'm sure it's be alot easier. Be careful and don't drop it.

Agree! Craigslist, EBAY, or Local Classifieds will be your best and cheapest bet. I see Hard Tops listed on Craigslist here all of the time.

Best of Luck!

Cheers!
