Hard Top Question - Are the "screws" Necessary?
[QUOTE=tolh13;40809]I have a 4dr and can take off the back half myself. After you remove all the stuff that needs removing i open the back gate and put the window up and sit in the back of the jeep put my arms up and find the the center of balance and lift up then kinda shimmy forward
I used to use this method on my YJ. I've done it on my JK
as well. Except I sit in the back and pass the hard top
over to two parallel heavy duty shelving units by Contico.
I put some 3/4 dense foam on top of the shelves to protect
the top. It would be a lot easier w/o the spare and the
center brake light pod. I may try removing them next time.
I think I could put it back on easy enough then. No wife
to help.

Sorry folks,
You DO NEED the screws. If you take the back of the hard top off and run the front panels only... Like a bimini top... You NEED the screws to keep the panels in place. The lever locks have nothing to hold on to otherwise.
