Default Hardtop issue?

I know i saw this in a post before but couldn't find it. Does anyone remember seeing something about the two bolts on the hardtop pushing through the top causing the top to crack. I would post a picture but can't do it at the moment. Well anyhow I know I didn't have these poke throughs until the dealer was working on trying to fix my leak. Now I am about to have an aquarium above my head because of them.

Supposedly a Chrysler rep is coming down to look at it. I asked my dealer if I was the unlucky person that bought a concept vehicle or a jeep because everytime I have a problem they have no idea how to fix it.

I hope someone can chime in and let me know that is is a real issue.

Thanks,
Colt

If the back portion is off and the little feet on the freedom panels are not flipped down it is fairly easy to punch them through the top. When your dealer had it they either did this or really cranked and over tightened the knobs while the back section was still on, ussually most people would stop after hearing the crunching sound of the bolt going through the top. The knobs just need to be snug, not super cranked

Default Common sense

Seriously:

I'm sure many service departments have one or two knuckleheads that don't pay attention and end up wrecking a part because of their inattention. I grieve with thee on the hardtop situation. I hope they warranty that joint for you, because those hardtops are expensive.

Yeah I hope they do to. I don't see how they can't but then again they are mere idiots that know nothing about anything. I have never owned a jeep before and because of this forum and other people I guarantee that I know more than the service rep does about my jeep.

I guess we will find out.

I have heard before that if you don't flip up the standoffs that people have screwed into their hardtops but I wasn't sure if anyone had done it with the back piece on. I know know that it is possible.

Default Shorter bolts on 08 hardtops

According to the dealership, these two bolts on 08 jk's are shorter to prevent this from happening when running only the front two panels without adjusting the rubber stops (or overtightening). The dealership I went to has already replaced 3 sets of tops for the same reason.
