Default Hartop , soft top ,bikini top, I want a quick to convert topless jeep

I have a 2007 X 2 door with the factory convertable top. I want the quickest , waterproof top I can get. This jeep is a summer only vehicle and I love a top down or roofless feel. The factory top takes a bit to long to put up & down. I work 10 hour days and if theres a sudden downpour I don't have that much time to mess with the top. Is the bikini top ithe the zip out rear window and dust cover over the rear any easier ?, or do I get the 2 piece Bestop hard top? . Again I am looking for quick, waterproof top. Any suggestiond?. Thanks

The only thing I can say is Good Luck.
Ours is a sot top 4dr, and I understand about the top. As a matter of fact, I believe it's easier to remove the top then to take it down and fold it.
That being the case I purchased a Best Top bikini and trail duster through Quadratec. I remove the factory soft top in the summer and use the bikini and most times the duster to cover the rear cargo area. In addition I purchased a trail cover. We strictly use the bikini top in the summer along with the the trail duster. This works great and the bikini is easy to remove and store. When it looks like rain or the forecast calls for it, we put the trail cover over the bikini and duster. it works out great as it only takes about 5 minutes to install the trail cover. I've never used the trail cover in a rainstorm without the bikini or duster, but with, I've never had a problem with flooding.

Well, if you want a quick way to take your top off I would NOT suggest the hard top (OEM or Best top)

The quickest way to remove those would be with some hoist system or with assistance from a friend. Even after its off then you would need to find a place to store it as well and you obviously won't be able to haul it with you if the weather decides to take a turn for the worst.

I agree with Lorrels reply. I used to run this way with my YJ
all the time. I have the same setup on the JK now but don't have the trail cover yet.

The only disadvantage with this is if you need to drive in a downpour.

Somebody makes an "emergency top" that looks like a good
answer for that scenario. I can't remember which catalog I saw it in.

The emergency top is on the 4WD website.

It's like a trail cover but it doesn't cover the side windows.
And it may have a transparent rear window? Can't tell from
the website.
Either way, you can drive with it on as a temporary, in the rain, top.

Anybody have one yet?

Question

I was looking at a bikini, too. How does it do in rainstorms? Living here in Michigan, you never know what the weather's going to provide.

If I get a bikini, with the deck-cover and "windjammer" will that cover most of the Jeep from rain? Or will I still be getting soaked?

I usually use the Bestop bikini top for light rain during the summer (I don't really care much getting wet)... with doors off (or tube half doors), the bikini top doesn't really do much though... especially with bigger/wider tires (all the road splash gets inside).

It seems like there's a new product: Pavement Ends Emergency Jeep Soft Top. It looks like the quickest way to cover the JK (I don't .
