Has anyone built an elevated sleeping platform for a JKU?

I'm curious as to what "back seat rise" you're talking about. Is it different for 2012s? My back seat folds completely flat. My GF and I sleep in it regularly, and comfortably.Originally Posted by Tycho
Would be great to do something removable. I was looking at making a long bean bag as a comfy way of dealing with the back seat rise. Ended up just staggering two swing seat squabs. No storage underneath but I just chuck stuff on top . Will be interested to see what you come up with.
Okay, my elevated sleeping/stowage platform is complete except for carpeting the deck...
The last photo shows the front extension flaps stowed and the seats in the driving position. The flaps make the platform about 74" long overall and it's big enough for a standard twin airbed (although I'll probably use something like a foam pad instead since the airbeds are a bit on the tall side). The ends of the flaps are supported by a cable hung from the seat in front of it. The washers are the attachment point for the cable. The whole thing breaks down into five parts and can be installed and removed without tools. Setup time is about five minutes.
This was made using two sheets of plywood and a couple of 2x4's (plus fasteners). Total cost of what you see was well under $100. When just used for stowage it pretty much doubles the usable capacity of the Jeep.
Now to get carpet glued down and make some window covers!
