Default Have you fit a '07/'08 Hardtop on a '09 or newer JK Unlimited?

I've read alot about differences between 07/08 and 09 forward freedom top latching mechanisms and the footman's loop use. I've also seen threads on using the newer 09 forward tops on an older 07/08 Unlimited.

My question is will the older style tops fit a 09 or newer Unlimited? None of what I've read seems conclusive, I'd like to hear from folks who have tried.

According to what I have seen for all the aftermarket products until the 2010 model year all the hardware was the same. For 2010 they require a different header when mounting with the header. That is all I can tell you.

i put my 2008 hardtop on my wifes new 2011 jk.. fit perfect ! no problems at all.. the dealer even told me it wouldn't work.. but it did.. no leaks.. the only difference i can tell is after 09 they changed the way the center attached to the windshield.. but its not a big deal and i think they moved the center loop a couple inches over.. so if you want to use a newer top on a old jeep you might have to move that hoop.. but thats not a big deal either.. so you shouldnt have any problems.

Well guess that would be the difference that makes a different header requierment.

i didnt change a header ... but if you wanted to use a newer hardtop on a 08 or 07 jeep just move the loop.. easy..

Default Thanks Everyone

Sounds like its not a problem, I'm selling my '08 hard top and have had a few inquiries from owners of '09s and newer. Look for a FS thread as soon as I get my post count up.
