My 08 just started turning the headlights on when I unlock with my remote. I've had this thing since new and never had it do this, this is bugging the crap out of me - how do I stop it?? Can't find anything in the manual about it. They stay on even if I never open the door and just re-lock it, in fact if I don't start it the only way to get them off without waiting like 2 minutes is to open the door and cycle my headlight switch on then off.

It also recently started leaving them on when I shut off the engine and lock the Jeep whether I had them on or not - again I have to open the door and cycle the switch to shut them off unless I, for some stupid and senseless reason, wanted them on for the 2 minutes or so it takes before they turn off.

HELP!!!!! How do I make it the way it always was and should be??

The default setting on an 08 is that when you use the key fob to unlock the door(s), the headlights come on and when you start it they turn off. Since there's no EVIC, the only way that this setting can be changed is that a dealer has to use a scan tool. If you have access to one from a private shop they can possibly do it, but not all of the aftermarket scan tools can take care of it. The dealer can do it but they'll probably charge you. Why the setting changed in your case I don't know, but if there was a battery disconnect it may have possibly reverted back to the default setting.

It is odd, until just a couple of months ago, through battery changes and disconnects to save the control modules while welding going on, they never came on. This is from new (I am the original owner). I'm wondering if the dealer flashed my module and this happened, or if they noticed the lights didn't come on (my preferred action) and changed it without asking when it was in the shop. I'll take it in next month (60 mile trip each way) when passing through and see if they can fix it. At least now I know what to have them do . Thanks!!!!!
