Default help with 3.8 engine swap concerns

are there any "issues" that need to be addressed with installing a 2011 3.8 into my 2008 JKU?
I plan to reuse my original wiring harness.

My God. I hope you haven't purchased the 2011 engine. If not, then please wait. Get a 3.6 instead. Better yet, go test drive a 2012 Wrangler and see the difference for yourself.

Swapping in a 3.6 would likely require a lot of work. At the minimum, the computer. With that, you'll probably need a new harness.. possibly motor mounts, exhaust work, and so on. That's assuming the bellhousing bolt pattern hasn't changed, nor the output shaft on the motor.

Used 3.8's can be found mildly cheap. Not 4.0 cheap... but not too bad.

I can understand putting another 3.8 in the JKU. A lot cheaper. With all that work a 3.6 would entail. Better off going with a Hemi.

No body is answering his question.

Of course if he could drop dime to buy a whole new jeep or drive line he probably would.

Grab a 12pk and head to the stealership at about 5:30 tonight. Find a Jeep tech walking to his vehicle after work and offer beer for input. Works like a charm. Unless you have boobies of course, in that case, forget the beer part.

There have been a couple of guys here that have put the 2011 engine in their older rigs. I think duneslider is the name of one of them. Im about to do it also just waiting for a little more cash flow and ill be ordering it up. I think there are a couple of fuel line differences. The 2011 has a male end instead of a female end. Hopefully someone that has done it will chime in and help you out. cant wait to get a new engine in. so sick of hearing my sewing engine and wondering when the damn thing is going to let go.

thanks.
My 08 motor is toast with just 67k on it and I need to get her back on the road again. I found a very newer 2011 take out and was looking for input from anyone who has done this. my suspicion is that their may have been changes between 08-11.
