HELP! Chattering Engine and slipping clutch??
Hey, I have an 07 X 2dr 6 SPeed. I noticed earlier on Sunday that when I started the Jeep, the engine was chattering BAD! I was parked in an off camber spot (facing down a hill, not too steep) so I didn't think too much abuot it. Monday morning, same thing, but I was parked in a level spot... Okay?
Well, I am pretty religious about changing the oil so I figured I would change the oil. I had literally about 2975 miles on this oil. Well, pick up my oil and filter (Valvoline 5w20/ Motorcraft FL 400S oil filter) I have been running this combo since purchase (17xxxmi) Pull the Jeep in the garage pull the dipstick and.. NOTHING!!!!!!
I had been wheeling a few weeks earlier so I figure, GREAT! I have bashed my oil pan. Well, I crawl under the Jeep and nothing, everything is bone dry no signs of leakage anywhere... So I pulled the drain plug and only about 2 ~ 2.5 qts came out! Well, I changed my oil and said I would watch and listen. This was monday night, I went to work tuesday morning and no chatter and good oil level, I was out of town for work and just got in and checked oil level, Good, and started her, No sounds. When I got home, I parked in the downhill spot for about 30 minutes and when I came out, CHATTERING like it was about to fly apart!!! Pulled to level surface, checked oil level, good level. Anyone have ANY idea what is going on?????

Also, While parked in this spot (where I have parked many times b4) My Jeep had drift down the hill about 30 ft!!!
I noticed when I pulled it up to level, The jeep just seemed to wanna roll ALOT while in first gear. I haven't had that problem before... I have had the Jeep in the mud once or twice and done a few creek crossings but it has been weeks since the last crossing. and the accesory belt on the front of the engine was turning so I don't think the clutch is slipping, it is like the engine is not holding compression!! HELP!!!
Oh yeah, the only engine mods are an AEM Dry Flow Filter with Rusty's Tube and a Flowmaster 40 Series put back in the stock location. (I did drive the jeep about 100 miles home from a trail ride without any muffler because of a broken hanger but that was three weeks ago)
