Default Help disabling ESP

Turn ESP OFF COMPLETELY
1. Turn jeep on
2. Set to 4hi
3. Set parking brake
4. Make sure steering wheel is centered
5. Turn wheel to the right, 180 degrees, JEEP logo should be upside down at this point - hold ESP off button for 7 seconds, you may hear a chime at 5 seconds(and ESP OFF may show up on the speedo), but keep holding for 7 seconds!!!!
6. Turn wheel back to center then left 180 degrees, JEEP logo should be upside down at this point - hold ESP off button for 7 seconds, again, hold for 7 seconds!!!
7. Turn back to center, and hold ESP for 7 seconds.
8. Turn Jeep off

I am following the above steps but I'm confused on steps 6 - 8. Step 5 causes my ESP to flash off after about 5 seconds. The rest of the steps don't show any other notifications that you are doing anything correctly and then if you shut off the jk and turn it back on, it appears to just put everything back to stock settings.

What am I doing wrong and how do I know I am doing this correctly?

Thanks but I'm on the road traveling right now and it's not possible.

Still looking for help with the above issue. Also if I just hold the esp button for 5 seconds without turning the steering wheel it chimes and ESP Disable comes up on my dash. If I understand this correctly than it is the part time ESP disable and not the full one that requires the steering wheel.

From four wheeler.com

"It often takes four, five, or six attempts to successfully Disable the system. One final note; the 2007 model year (and early 2008 models) didn't have the Disable mode programmed into the computer. A Technical Service Bulletin has been issued by Chrysler LLC, allowing a dealership to reflash the computer and enable the Disable feature. If you own an '07 and want to disable the ESP, your first step is visiting the dealership."

If it is a 2012 or newer you can't turn it off. Federal law. You have install the switch. If you are in 4WD HI, you can hold the button in for seven seconds, and wait for the chime. That will turn it off below 45mph in 4WD HI just like 4WD Low.

Thanks boys. I'll check if I got the upgrade done to see if that fixes it.

I will also try it a few times in a row. Maybe I'm just missing something.

Finally, holding the button seems to solve most of these issues however there are many times I'm traveling 45-55mph.
