Here's a thought! Ask how much a remote start install will cost. It comes with a pair of new keys........

Hey guys. Well, i got it towed and it was painful to watch my jeep get dragged onto the flatbed while in park, steering wheel locked with tires turned into the curb. We could get the auto tranny to unlock. And yes, it's about 240 a key, I'm getting 2 this time. OUCH! There goes my Christmas money. I'm not a happy Jeeper right now.

Thank you everyone for replying. I didn't think I would get replies so fast. Just goes to show how tight knit the keeping community is.

no it is impossible to hotwire the new jeeps. That is why they have the chip in the key as an anti theft device no chip no start.

FWIW. I've always bought my extra keys off eBay and then had them cut at Wal-mart. They had no problem cutting them as long as I was under the understanding that if the key was miscut, I was SOL. All they charged me is the cost of a blank, non-chip key.

As for programming, call around. Some dealers charge, and some dealers don't!
