help me understand this
Just fooling around I went onto jeep site to build a"new jeep" went with the hard rock package unlimited rubicon, which is weird to begin with because the hard rock package with an auto has 373 gears not 410s ( why?) and by the time add a few thing the jeep is over 50K never thought I would see that day. 50,000 wow I am stunned. and bummed
Yeah, I saw this last year when I was looking for a 15 or 16. I guess Fiat is trying to go out of the Wrangler business with their pricing and NO REBATES. As for the gears, 373 is standard with auto. 4:10 gears standard on stick shift. About a $500.00 option on automatic Rubi.
People are still buying them at that price so why wouldn't they continue to sell at that price and even higher for someone who would like a "special" package? It's basic economics. People are buying without rebates so why bother offering them? We buy even though they leak like crazy, are underpowered, get terrible mileage, and are horribly impractical- so why would they do anything to appease the consumer aside from putting some stickers on it?
I paid sticker for mine 6 years ago and have enjoyed it since without regret.

My plan was to buy used. But I wanted the 2011+ interior and the 3.6 engine with low mileage and no mods (so I could build it my way)... by the time I found a used one that met that criteria it cost only a couple grand less than I could get a brand new one for. Not much of a decision at that point.
Unlike other Chrysler/Jeep products Wranglers have a pretty good resale value. Thats good for owners and helps the OEM keep the price of new ones up. But it doesn't help when your in buying mode.
