HELP. NO SPARK with new distributor, wires and plugs
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
So I ordered the Firepower Ignition Kit from Performance Distributors. Jeep JKU 2010 with 70K miles and thought I'd do the plugs and hey, why not 'upgrade'
a little. I also bought a new crankshaft position sensor from the local dealership b/c it occasionally throws the 'camshaft position sensor' code. I already replaced
the camshaft position sensor and the code occasionally returns (not for months now) so I figured while I was down there - why not!!
The threads I've read all talk about what a pain the passenger rear spark plug is, then I read a thread where someone removed the battery/fuse box/ battery box
to gain access. So I thought I'd try it. Yes, this is probably where I went wrong. I carefully unplugged lots of wires, removed the battery, removed the fuse box
(no I don't think I broke anything in the fuse box), moved the stock air intake, removed the battery box, and did loosen and swing the power steering reservoir
forward (not disconnect). And BOOM - tons of room. I ran brand new wires, champion plugs gapped to .065", the new screamin demon distributor. Even used
dielectric grease and antiseize as needed. While I had access to the passenger area, I replaced the crankshaft position sensor making sure it was seated and
connected properly. Then I began to button everything up. When I went to start the Jeep, as soon as I turn it over - it just keeps turning over, but never starting.
I checked to see if anything wasn't connected, glanced over the fuses in the fusebox and nothing. I unplugged the wires and put in one of the old sparkplugs to
see if I was getting spark, but NO SPARK.
My thought is that maybe the new crankshaft position sensor is bad or I didn't get it connected right (??) OR somehow one of the wiring harnesses I disconnected
and reconnected isn't seated right, but I'm just guessing. I did call Perfomance Distributors (right before they closed) and they told me to put the old distributor
back in and if it worked, then they'd ship an new one. I did that and the OE didn't get it started either. I have no reason to doubt the wires/plugs.
So I'm planning on opening everything back up tomorrow (along with some prayer) and putting the old crankshaft position sensor back in . If anyone has some
insight, I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!! Should note that the Jeep has been running perfectly up until this (makes me wonder why I tried to improve it).
Thanks
