Default Help Please How do You Change THe Headlamp?

Yesterday I found out that my right headlight was burned out.

Firstly I was confused on the type of bulb I should purchase, I think it should be H4,and feeedback on that would be welcome.

Secondly how do you get access to the lamp. on the right side its blocked by the power steering liquid container and air box, and on the left side is blocked by the horn.

Please Advise,if photos are available even Better.

Ok here's the text instructions and an image for ya.....

Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Remove the headlamp unit (1) from the mounting collar (3).
Using the tabs on each side of the headlamp bulb connector receptacle (2), firmly grasp the bulb base and rotate it counterclockwise about 30 degrees to unlock it.
Pull the bulb and base straight out from the keyed opening in the headlamp unit.

You have to remove the grille first. I know...silly.

Undo the clips that run across the top of the grill, then pull towards you and out.

My owners manual says the headlight is H13 (sometimes called 9008). I replaced mine with Sylvania Xtravisions in H13 configuration with no problems. Your manual has a detailed list of how to change out the headlight bulb. Getting the grill off will be the hardest part of the whole affair.

Default warranty????

i would take it to the dealership and have them do it. headlight oughta last longer than a year. oh yeah if ya change it out yerself do both of them and do not touch the glass part on the new one. there's something about the oil on yer fingers that is bad fer the bulbs.

I recently upgraded my bulbs for the headlights and the fog lights to Sylvania Silverstar halogens. I first took the grill off the front of my Jeep and saw the front of the bulbs and decided to do plan B instead, so I put the grill back on the Jeep.

To get to the headlight bulb on the passenger side first remove the cover from the air filter and push it aside. Take out the air filter. In the bottom of the air filter box you will see 3 circles, there are plastic posts under those circles. Just grab the box with both hands and pull up, it comes right off the mount on the fender. Put that aside.

Last thing to do is move your steering fluid reservoir. Unbolt the bolt on top and move it aside. Now you can fit your hand to get to the headlight bulb. Twist and pull out.

To do the driver's side it just requires removing the horn assembly and you then will have access to the bulb.

The foglights were simple and I didn't even have to remove the airdam, others said they had to. I was able to reach in between the dam and underneath the grill and replace the lights.

I've done both my lights like the manual says and I wouldn't call removing all that stuff behind the lights an easier way. Just hold the new bulb with a paper towel when you go to install it so you don't get any oil off your hands on the glass. The manual explains this. Once the grill is off, the rest is a piece of cake.

Here is a link with some photos of how to change out the bulb. If you need some new plastic screw rivets for the top of the grill when you are done, you can buy them at Auto Zone, the part number is 799-100 and they are Dorman 5/16" nylon screw in rivets and cost about $4 for a pack of 15.

Agreed. I can take my grill off in less than five minutes.
