I have an 07 and have just recently been smelling some oil burn when I start mine up, and it was extremely low at the last oil change. After reading this thread, haven't thought about the tailpipe, but it is a little sooty as well as the muffler. I have a little left on the extended warranty, but not very much faith in it being fixed, or even diagnosed for that matter...

I owned a 2008 that didn't even use a 1/2 quart between oil changes , I traded it in on a 2010 , At 25000 in spun a connecting rod bearing due to oil consumtion ( oil changed every 3000 at dealership .After 6 weeks at dealership New long block installed and still going through a quart every thousand miles. Not very happy, They have to fix for 10 years, I'm sure jeep will be gone by then, or at least a 6.2 swap. Good luck on your search
