It seems a bit far fetched suspension droop could cause a driveshaft to bend though...? Wouldn't anytime someone grabs a forklift or just gets really flexed out they'd damage all that crap?

Picking a Jeep up by the frame and letting the suspension droop can bend the driveline if it contacts the crossmember on the lift.
Not saying body shop did it, may have been your mechanical service.
Lifting by the frame can also tear driveline boots, stretch brake line, tear out ABS lines and axle breather tubes.
I always insist any shop that needs to lift my Jeep does so by the tires only. If they need the tires off it's done on the floor with Jack stands.

A stock JK can have axles hanging at full droop with out any of the above things happening.
If lifted and things are getting stretched or contacting cross members then it's set up incorrectly. Don't go off road if your rig can't be lifted in a garage with out components being stretched or driveshafts hitting cross members.

I have long travel suspension with a couple feet of droop. Lifting all 4 tires off the ground is not good for drivelines, ABS wires, etc.
Bone stock 9" droop is fine unless they put the lift arm under your driveline and bend it......OP? Where the picture of your bent DL?
Here's a few examples of expert lift operation, just imagine a what a teenage tire temp texting his GF could do to your rig.

I know this is ridiculously old, but if anyone runs into the same thing i think i discovered what happened all those months ago... I ended up taking a look at the rear ds after i went to the shop to pick up all my stuff that was in the Jeep after it was written off, said drive shaft was scraped to hell right where it was damaged, looks like someone dragged it across a rock, which is interesting because i had owned it since new, and had never come close to doing that. I guess the mystery will never be solved.
