I do a 5 tire rotation every 5000 miles along with an oil change.

Ok. Stupid question I'm sure, but if you don't have a lift in your garage what is the fastest way to rotate the tires? Floor Jack? Bottle Jack? Do you jack up on side of the jeep at a time? Are you using an impact gun or doing it manually?

Sorry for all of the questions but this is something I want to do instead of paying someone else to do it for me. I have a bottle Jack and two Jack stands. Should I use a floor Jack to do this?

You guys that rotate your own tires, don't you need to balance them every time you rotate them? Sorry for asking as I really do not know. I bought mine at discount tire so I can have them rotated and balanced for free.

My dealer did the rotation but NO balancing with to me it makes no sense.
So I went to a tire place and had them balance. The tires were way OFF. Now the ride is much smooter.

I use a floor jack & some jack stands & I start by rotating the spare first. I don't get them rebalanced.

Probably would not hurt to get them balanced once every 20k or so but not really something you can do in your garage or driveway by yourself.

matt852 - Go my 35s from Discount Tires and I have them rotate and balance all five of them (like you for free) every 3,000 miles.

I already have 35s, but if you really want them to wear out faster then don’t rotate at all!

Fwiw... This is the same rotation as what your Jeep owners manual suggests: http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires...otation_fg.jpg

I don't put many miles on. About 5k a yr

I have a full spare 2 years old brand new never mounted.

I'll probably get another 5-6 years on mine. They have maybe 15k

I would love to rotate my spare in but i think its past the point. I need to measure. I was told if I buy another brand new one, I can rotate both in but I'm not remounting wheels every time.

At this point I may just keep rotating the 4 and hope I don't have a flat.
If anything, when i go to replace them, if I never need the spare, I'll have to get rid of it. Brand new tire 8yrs old is pushing it's engineered life regardless of no use

Anyone else run into this? I may see how much wear and determine if it's ok to rotate the one new spare in.
