Default hydrolic or solid lifters??

does this little minivan engine have hydro, or solid lifters??? sounds like solids with all the ticking at start up.

They're hydraulic rollers. Mine started ticking on startup. Then it started ticking when warmed up. Then all the time. Then it started knocking and ticking at startup. That's when I took it in at 18K and they put a new engine in it. Sounds like you have the same problem. Don't ask me what the problem was...they still don't know.

Hardly anything has solid lifters anymore.

Yeah dangit. We just got done rebuildin a 16.5 horse Briggs OHV on a Craftsman riding mower. Who in the hell does that instead just buyin another one?!?!?!?!?! It actually threw the rod and didn't even scratch the block. Go figure.

From what I understand the ticking at start up is because of oil filters that don't have effective anti-drainback valves and it takes a few seconds for the oil to circulate before it fills up the hydraulic lifters. I've read that the mopar oil filters along with a few others solve the ticking problem at start up. I personally have not solved mine just yet as I only read this a month or two ago and haven't changed my oil since then.

+1 on this, I'v had the tick after a few oil changes only to go away after other oil change... Payed attention on the last one and got one with the anti drain and no tick again at start up.

uh oh i already have mopar filters on it, i hope what happend to redneck jeep dosent happen to me, i got 9500 miles.

yea not many vehicals have solids anymore but i was hoping it had them cause now im worried. lol.

my moms izuzu has them and its an 02...then again izuzu stoped making passenger vehicals.
