When parking on a incline, the steering is supposed to point away from the sidewalk.
If the vehicles starts rolling for some reason, the front wheels will be stopped by the sidewalk.

I understand this. I didn't just learn to drive. But the fact remains that my steering wheel doesn't lock. I just parked and tried. Turned the wheel about 180 degrees an it didn't lock. Possible that there is a difference depending on transmission types? I have had manuals on mine.

Someone else should reply about manual, I've had only automatic Jeeps.
Maybe a stupid question -- did you try locking both in neutral and 1st ?

It was in reverse today when I parked. My driveway is not flat. But I have gotten in it and drifted it off I the street into my driveway without the keys before, so that would answer the neutral question.

get the clock spring replaced professionally, or you may be buying a second one soon. They can check your Wheelock at the same time.:beer:
