What is the slow clock TSB?

Many of our clocks suffer from losing 3-6 minutes per month. Last summer Chrysler came out with a service bulletin to fix the problem. You must bring all keys with you when they do the work since they need to get reprogrammed. I don't remember the service bulletin number but do a google search for jeep slow clock TSB ad you should find it.

If it was mine, I would change the oil now and do it yourself, and let them do it the next time..

it wasn't a jab at you or anybody. It's a slap on the modern business's model today. There was a very good article in business weekly about how the MBA has killed the American business and quality of product. My apologies if the sarcasm didn't shine through on that last comment. Don't be so damn sensitive, things won't offend so easily.

You won't find documentation in file shares at automotive manufacturing companies that recommends or advises their engineers to design things that fail. What they can do, however, is design something to meet standards that is "just good enough". Anyone who's wrenched on a vehicle knows this. Pop clips that can't be reused, self-tapping screws that strip, self-tapping screws in the frame, etc. I mean, look at the JK water pump failures. We all know there are better water pumps used in other vehicles, so why didn't Jeep borrow one from Ford, or Toyota when they knew we'd be using these Jeeps in very remote locations? Well, because it was cheaper not to, and because they got a few vehicles to pass their warranty testing with the original water pump, they called it a day. If every automaker built their vehicles like the old Mercedes 300D's, the average ownership span of a new vehicle would be longer than the current 7-ish years that it is now. This isn't MBA material. This is high-school level Business 101.
sarcasm. That was my point. The mindset of the MBA is driving cheaper builds. They aren't building it to fail. They are building them to not be a 20 year vehicle. #2, don't be so damn sensitive.

Yeah - totally didn't come across as sarcasm or a statement on the damage that the MBA has inflicted on the American product. It came across as someone unable to prove their own point in a discussion and who decided to throw out the "expert" card to try to win the internet. Don't worry - you didn't hurt my sensitive little feelings and I only cried for a little while.

(dude - love the back-handed apology followed immediately by a jab - total win there)

That being said, it's easy to misinterpret the intent of forum posts. We still disagree, but that's cool.

Jeep on.

Cars are better today, even our Jeeps, than anything built 20 years ago. I think the deal is they cost 4 times as much as they did 20 years ago. I used to buy a new car every two years because I knew after my cars got to around 30,000 miles they would start to be crap. My Jeep just flipped 35,000 miles on the way home from the dealership after getting a "head job". Haha. It drives great. Runs ok too. Funny thing is, if I compare it to my first Corvette( an 82), it rides better, is FASTER, accelerates quicker, and gets better gas mileage. That a four door JEEP is even compared to any year corvette is hilarious. But it is true. And the Corvette? 20,000 miles and it was done for. As for the OP that said his infinity lasted 200,000+ miles? Normal. They are great cars. As are Hondas, Toyotas, Lexus, etc. just about any product built within the last 10'years is substantially better than older cars. Working where I work, I see high end cars daily. BMWs are bad cars to maintain. Maseratis are the worst. Trash.

. I think the main thing is. Cars cost more now and our expectations are really high.
