As the title states if i go no bigger then 33" tires would a rubi with 3.73 be just as capable off road as a rubi with 33" tires and 4.10?

 

I would have to say no. Although both are pretty capable vehicles I think the lockers and the gearing in the transfer would make a difference. What kind of wheeling do you do?

Based on 3.73 vs 4.10 gearing it won't make a noticeable difference to most people. They are both Rubi's so they are same given everything else with same size tires. Obviously if one had 35" tires then that one would be better than the one with 33" tires.

 

On the newer 3.6 motors, you won't feel a difference in 4.10 and 3.73 gears with 33" tires.

I you plan on going to 35"s though, find one with 4.10.

 

33's with 3.73s will be acceptable, meaning you won't be disappointed. I have 4.10's with 35's and it's just about right... much better than my previous 2011 Rubi that had 4.10's and factory tires!!

 

If you drove them back to back, you would definitely feel the difference. I would go with the 4.10's if given the choice

 

The difference is too insignificant to be a concern off road. But if you have a free choice, go with 4.10.

 

Not true. The wrangler with the 35" tires has more ground clearance than the Wrangler with the 33" tires....that's all. It's certainly not "better".

 

It absolutely would be for off roading purposes.
