Inner Shifter Boot - Dealership problems....
So my 2010 JK Rubicon (Stock) was jumping out of gear when it was cold so I take it into the shop to see what the deal was. They said they needed to replace the inner shifter boot. After getting it back I noticed alot more road noise so when I get home I check it out. Does the inner boot connect to anything? It seems to be just laying in there hanging around the shifter without attaching to anything else. Here is the photos:

Also notice all the scratches:

I've called the service manager and supposed to go have a look at it on Tuesday. How is the shifter boot supposed to connect to the metal below?
Thanks

don't wait to go back to the dealer. Show them that horrible work right away so they don't try to screw ya. They owe you an new center console for scratching the hell out of it.
Yes the boot attaches, it appears they tried to do it without lifting up the console.

I had this problem and they gave me this b.s. answer and did this as well. It popped off driving away from the dealer. They ended up having to replace the syncos I believe it is called. It should be a crime that they are able to beat around the bush like this and not be thrown in jail.
I want to install a rough country 1.25" BL but want to get the transmission crap taken care of first. It honestly looks like they pried it up with a screwdriver instead of using nylon panel removal tools. I will postpone installing it for a bit longer.
