Default Installing Soft Top

I have sold my hard top to my new 2010 Jeep Sport. I got the dual package when purchased.

Is there anything special about installing the soft top? It already has the main swing bars/frame on it (came from factory this way). I have a box with windows and a box with some hardware.

I can't seem to find instructions online, but will be doing the swap after I pull off the hard top to give to the guy buying it tonight.

Thanks for any help or tips!!

It's in the owners manual too. I have both tops too, easy to install the soft top, easier if the material is wrmed up.

I hope the cold weather doesn't make it too tight to put up. I have read some threads about it being a bare to get them up cold. I will have it in the garage, but its only 40-45ish in there...

That's pretty cold for the first time. I put mine up for the first time in about 65 degree weather and it was sunny and still really had to fight it.

Cold will make it a beeyatch to mess with.

I would put the Jeep and top in the garage and heat the garage.

Just keep the soft top inside your house till it's time to put it on. You could even put it in a small room with a space heater, keeping safety in mind, and heat it up even more.

I would hold off until warmer weather or heat your garage before attempting to put it on otherwise you will have a heck of a fight.

There's a video on the Jeep website on how to put up and take down the soft top. If you go to the Jeep website click on the "Wrangler" then click on the "for Owners" tab in the right hand corner. There will be a list of options like scheduling an appointment, warranty info ect. Click on the "How to use the wrangler softop" video. That's how I learned to use mine.

In the cold weather, latch the header before hooking in the 2 sail panels. Then have someone press down on the top bow on each side while you hook in the panels. The window zippers will still be hard since it's cold and not stretched yet, but that should help you get the actual top on.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I had to do it tonight, because I was selling my hard top tonight. Hard to wait for warm weather without a hard top

I parked in the garage (which my roommates run a small space heater in over the winter, so its about 40-45ish). Everything went ok, bit tight, but not as bad as some said it would be. Front hooks were ok to hook (did clamp right away as directed), but the windows plastic edges were pretty tough. Zippers were not bad either.

I will let it settle and drive it without touching it for the next 4-6 weeks and then the solar heat should start to help on sunny days.

Now that its on, I cant wait to drop it! Putting my new side steps on this weekend and installing aftermarket stereo and speakers! Sweet!
