Default Which Instructions Do I Follow???

OK, I downloaded the "2007 Owner's Manual" and found out it is somewhat different than the printed version! Online version has 16 less pages!

So here's my question:

I'm getting ready to attempt to lower and raise the soft top on my 2-door Rubicon. Which set of instructions do I follow: Those in the printed manual or those from the online version? Yes, the instructions are different!

Normally I'd go with the online version as that's supposed to be the most recent version.

Was supposed to be warm here (Spokane WA) Saturday, but now they are saying low to mid 40s -- too cold to tackle that job!

I have a silver 2-dr X w/ soft top.
I've had mine down a couple of times... and will again tomorrow.
Being my 4th Jeep, but first Wrangler, I took it real slow taking the top down for the first time. Their terminology threw me for a loop, i.e. sail panels, side bows, etc...
I didn't really understand every step they were talking about until I put it back up. The instructions for putting it back up made more sense to me and the terminology became more clear.
Botton line... Read both take-down and put-up instructions before starting... and have both front doors open while doing so.
Good Luck!

Here's what I do to take my 2-dr top down...maybe it could be in the write up area but nonetheless this is it:

1 Remove the two side windows and rear window
2 Pull out the plastic lip from the top of the doorway on both sides
3. Press down on the rear support bar while pulling out the plastic lips from the rear sides and fold them up over the top
4. Unlatch the top levers and start pulling the top back
5. As the top is folding back, help it fold in an accordion style in the rear being careful not to let the plastic lips from the front doorways pinch

That's pretty much it....

To put it back up:

1 Pull the top back up and go ahead and latch it fully
2 Re-seat the lips over the front doorways
3 Flip the rear section back down and while pushing down on the rear support bar, re-seat the plastic lips in the back
4 Put the side windows back on by starting the zipper back aross the top of the window only
5 Re-seat the lips on the bottoms of the side windows
6 Re-seat the front lips of the side windows by pulling a little while tucking
7 Finish zipping the side windows the rest of the way
8 Re-install the rear window...I find it a little easier to star the zipper by un-seating the rear lip on the zipper start side then re-seating it

about 4 minutes to come down, 7-8 to go back up

Hope that helps

Both instructions will get you there, I'm sure. After you do it a couple of times you will develop your own version.

Cablerep79 described it pretty well though. Of course I haven't had my soft top on yet. But it sounded exactly like the order of the TJ and I doubt it has changed much.

The little plastic pieces above the doors are your biggest pain. Don't force anything while raising and lowering but you have to muscle the plastic pieces that get tucked here and there.

My TJ came with a video on how to take the soft top down and also to install it. I didn't get one with the JK, but I think DC would do itself a favor by someting similar.
