Default Intermidiate shaft

Do these go out or make a popping sound by the stearing wheel when driving down the road or turning or am I wrong? Just a quick Question my stearing wheel is makeing a noise can some one let me know what's going on I had the dealership going to fix it in about 2weeks free of charge but just woundering why this will occur thanks

search Clunky steering, looks like you need the 5th wheel grease trick. Had mine "fixed" too at the dealer.. not fixed.

Yeah, had mine "fixed" by the dealer replacing the "steering shaft ball support" (whatever that is) but it returned about 5K miles later. Apparantly they changed the design of the bracket where the shaft goes through the firewall for the '11 models which is supposed to make a difference (maybe you just don't feel the clunk as much) but the clunking/popping is more to do with the different materials used on the metal intermediate shaft and teflon sleeve it's teeth slide into (different materials expanding at different rates when they heat up).

The 5th wheel grease mod (if done correctly and using the correct type of grease) is supposed to achieve the best long-term results.
