Default Intermittent Hard Starting

Ever since I bought my JK in Feb. of this year I've intermittently had some starting issues. My Jeep will crank for an extended period of time before starting. It seems as if it's not getting the fuel right away. Has anybody else experienced this? It seems to happen completely at random.

I have a 07 and mine has gotten worse where it happens every time I try to start my jk. It's a 6 speed x model with 85,000 miles and had it new since 07. It started happening about 2 years ago where it would do it randomly once in a rare blue moon but in the past coupla months it's is now every single time I turn the key. It almost feels fuel starved since the motor will cough and try to turn over but nothing and sometimes I just get the starter motor just turning and it could take up to 10 -15 tries before it finally starts. I have a new battery and pulled the starter out to see if anything looks abnormal on the flywheel or the starter itself but all looks ok. I even sanded the dirt off the connections on the wiring for the starter but same shit. I'm probably gonna buy a new starter and see if that does the trick. I know there's a thread somewhere about others with this same problem and wonder if anything was ever solved.

07 here as well, almost 56k miles, this only happens every once on awhile. It makes me wonder what's going on sometimes.

Never had any other issues like rough idle or not starting at all, it just turns over a little longer than usual

That's how mine started as well, then it worsened.

Could be time to check your crank position sensor, although from the sounds of it if you are not experiencing any rough running it might be something simple like a dirty fuel filter. I'd start there, it can pretty much only be a fuel or spark problem on a non or rough starting engine.

I have 07 Rubi with 35k with new short block from low oil issue having issues starting some times. They put a new starter in already and didn't fix the problem. Dropped it off at the dealership this morning.

I've got an 07 Sahara with the same issue. Took it to the dealer to get them to check it but they could not reproduce it. It only happens occasionally on mine but is still irritating as hell.

Here's what the dealer called to say was the problem "Neutral Safety Switch". $90 part online for the JK's. They want to keep it over night to do a cold start to make sure, but they believe this is the problem. It explains taking it out of park and putting in neutral helps it start some times. I hope this is it....I see alot of posts on here with people with the same issue and know one seems to know how to fix it.
